Continued Traumatic Stress Disorder (CTSD)

In 2008, 7.3 million (one in 31) adults, the equivalent of the combined populations of Chicago, Philadelphia, San Diego, and Dallas were in some form of correction system (prison, jail, probation, or parole) in the U.S.

The churning of uninsured ex-offenders many with one or more communicable diseases and chronic illnesses (i.e., hepatitis C, HIV/AIDS, asthma, hypertension, lupus, diabetes) to economically and medically stressed communities has the potential of tipping the economic and family dynamic scales for communities with high concentration of ex-offenders from struggling to survive to barely existing.

Annually, 6.5 million women are at physical and health risk for returning ex-offenders.
